Mityana Pentecostal Church was planted by the Kampala Pentecostal Church, currently Watoto Church. In 1994, Pastor Gary Skinner of Watoto Church had a dream for the Church to be planted in Mityana town. Through the support of the congregation of Kampala Pentecostal Church, a group of 15 missioners left Kampala for Mityana. They faithfully moved door to door preaching the Gospel for two weeks and then the church was planted.

Pastor Francis Aoli became the pioneer pastor and continues serving up to now. The church had challenges in the beginning to become settled in one place.  At first people gathered in rented rooms, then moved to pastor’s house, then to a couple different rented schools, then back to Pastor’s house. Eventually they ended up meeting under a tree.

Kampala Pentecostal bought a beautiful tent for the church. When the congregation outgrew the tent and it became too hot they decided to build a temporary shelter. In 2002 the leadership of Kampala Pentecostal Church released funds to the new church and land was purchased under the custodianship of the Pentecostal Assemblies of God trustees. In 2004, the church building was constructed with help from Kampala Pentecostal Church. It was finished in 2005 and dedicated.

Uganda is a small, landlocked country in sub-sarahan Africa. Mityana is a town in Uganda, located in the central region about 70km west of the main city Kampala.

Up until now the congregation has grown and continues to impact the local community. Mityana’s population in 2014 was 328,964 and is growing at a rate of 3.5%. The district has a land area of 3,809.4km2. The main economic activity in the area where Mityana Pentecostal Church is located is subsistence agriculture which provides livelihood to to over 90% of the district total population. They are mainly involved in livestock farming, cultivation and growing of banana, beans, cassava, potatoes, maize and other domestic foods on a small scale.  A small percentage  of the population is involved in local business.

In 2008, the church, in partnership with Compassion International, registered the Mityana CDC-UG0559 project as a CBO at the District Community Development Department. The project has continued up to now and it aims to mitigate the plight of OVC’s in the area, many of whom are orphans and come from the poorest of poor families. We aim to support these children and families with education assistance and ease the restraints of poverty.
